I have no problem with

R1 [ Sun 26 March 17 ]
Sun 25 March 18 tbc
4th weekend
Venue Wombwell if Team 105 want to organise

R2 [ Sat 22 April 17 ] Alternative
Sat 28 Apr 18
4th full weekend
Venue Bruntingthorpe or maybe a welsh track or Steph arrange her direction (but not the hospital)

Think that spreads it out a bit better and avoids St George's day which is a headache for Scout Teams.

Question mainly for Jes, we can't bring Blackbushe forward due to summer holidays, but do we push Curborough back a week to 1st weekend of Oct to give more time between the two rounds? This year its only 3 weeks apart which isn't much time for a rebuild.

Chris, is there scope to ask Bruntingthorpe if the Saturday after St Georges has potential?

Jes had already confirmed that Curborough is booked for 29th Sept which is 4 weeks after the provisionally booked Blackbushe weekend.

Just a quick heads up - It looks like the UK will host the HPV World Championships in 2018 (we last did it at Fowlmead in 2012).

One possibility is combining it with the York Rally and using the circuit and velodrome at York.
The York Rally next year will be 23rd/24th June...

Hi,

Did we decide on rounds 1 and 2 next year please?

My thoughts on both at present are that we are starting to build momentum.

Wombwell was always going to be down after a year off so 17 is encouraging.

Bruntingthorpe is starting to attract interest for future teams and the entry level is still holding up - matching Wombwell even with Team 105 - who are the biggest team in the sport at present - not coming and I think we are still at least 1 promised entry missing from 1st Kenilworth. If that turns up and Chris Gyles gets his cars built we could be pushing 20 cars.

So the question is: can we go ahead and book these 2 venues for 2018?
I would really like us to have a 2018 calendar out by Shenington and aim for that to be a Thing to aim for each year for the future.

We haven't given up on a late entry from Wing for Bruntingthorpe yet...

Close to 20 cars there would be excellent I think.

Wombwell made a really nice start to the season - The track itself is superb so unless there are any brilliant options with willing organisers that we don't know about I'd say go for it.

Similarly, I can't think of a better alternative to Bruntingthorpe for Round 2.

Likewise I'm encouraged by the start of this year. Build again the same for next season imo

I don't know of any tracks in South Wales - Only one BHPC race on is Rhyl (a long way from Cardiff!).

BHPC are there 1st July if anybody would like to have a look at it (racing at Shrewsbury on the 2nd July to make a weekend of it...)

Rhyl is actually a very nice track (and cheap) but I'm not sure how pits would work there.

I thought the plan was to have the calendar out the week before that.

I think the Ringwood Contingent would find Rhyl quite a way away (5 hours drive even without a trailer)!

It's fairly close to Manchester but they haven't supported round 2 the past few seasons for reasons other than distance so I don't think we can justify a second race "in the north" (it's geographically level with Wombwell) at this time.

Yep - Too late to get anything sorted there for next year. If there is somewhere suitable for a pit lane it might be worth considering instead of Wombwell for the following year I guess if we want to race in Wales.

It would be a risky early season race weather-wise though (on the coast and always seems to have been very windy when we've been there).

It would definitely be an over-nighter for me and I suspect quite a few others.

The other track in the West is Odd Down in Bath... That's ok but similar to Shrewsbury in layout so not the most exciting track to race on in a pedal car I would think.

BHPC are there 4th June if anybody wants to look around that one...
