Yes, that is exactly it.

Experience shows that if we try and run an event on a bank holiday then we get a terrible turnout from the junior teams and into May runs into exams - so where would we move it to?

The Saturday of St. Georges Weekend - and a fairly central location - means that scouts don't have to choose between the race and their local parades .
A late start to the race means that the more distant teams can travel on the day.
And a Saturday afternoon is simply the middle of the weekend so it opens it up to a few more people.

It won't effect Swebbelli because we don't tend to get any awards from the scout association (just as we don't get any support either if I am honest!).

Little bit of an update:

Scoutmed are booked for Shenington 2017.

Bear Grills are booked for Shenington 2017 and 2018.

22nd Rugby will run the cafe at Bruntingthorpe 2017 and are also looking to enter a car for their older scouts.

There is a new piece of tarmac at Solihull giving a possible extra corner on the "short" version of the track.

It's at the top of the hill so not massively exciting I guess but for when the BPCC inevitably returns there next year it does give an extra option.

Anyway, just FYI.

Sorry, it was too cold to stop and get the phone out on any of the 41 times I rode past it!
But effectively it's a bit of tarmac meaning the smaller loop can be used independently of the larger one whereas previously they had to share the little bit at the top of the hill.

Not where i was expecting, not sure what it adds really apart from as you said independant loops, but i wouldn't want to cycle just the hill loop
