Given we have R2 set as Saturday 23rd April and Scout Teams are likely to be on St George's Day Parade on Sun 24th (like us, Jes, team 105) i think R2 ought to be reasonably central and finish not too late

Which unless anyone know somewhere else means Stourport or Bruntingthorpe

So in that case its Wombwell or Shrewsbury for R1

Who was willing to organise at Odd Down?
It's about an hours drive from Bristol and I know for a fact no one from Bristol was up for doing this ;-)

I agree and I am hoping that's why it worked.

So lets do Bruntingthorpe - now we're just getting the hang of it - and Wombwell, Shrewsbury or Nottingham for round 1.

All these cycle tracks (Shrewsbury, Nottingham, Stourport, York, Odd-Down) are basically the same so 1 of them a year is plenty I think!

So current plan then

20th March: R1 Wombwell or Shrewbury or Nottingham or Stourport
23rd April: R2 Bruntingthorpe - Joint Committee
25/26th June: Shenington. - Jes
24th July: Solihull - Dave
3rd / 4th Sept: Blackbushe - Steph & Gareth
24th September: Curborough. - Jes?

One suggestion, If Bob organised Shrewsbury, would Mark organise Bruntingthorpe and we all help Jes with Curborough.
Or Mark does Wombwell & Bob does Bruntingthorpe, again with us all helping at Curborough.

Shrewsbury appears to be approx £40 per hour with Stourport similar according to their websites so about £400 for the 10 hours we need it and i assume nottingham will be similar

As Jes says all are very similar although Wombwell maybe more interesting, but the others sem to have more pit room.

As much as i like Wombwell, lighting at Shrewsbury and the close distance appeals, although its still an overnight saturday night.

I don't think I included Wombwell in the list simply because that circuit is very much more interesting.

As for organising, I have been thinking about this.

I don't mind doing Curborough - but in future some extra hands for the set up on Friday evening would be nice (it's not as involved as Shenington but it is generally much colder!).

Shenington, as long as the help that was forthcoming this year remains, I will do it in 2016 and 2017 but then you will need to find someone else to take it forward. What I suggest is that someone starts coming on board now so there can be a hand over.

Maybe Shenington as its such a big one should be the joint committee event. Would be easier to find an organiser for Bruntingthorpe with committee doing Shenington.

Re Shenington set-up help. I'm fine with helping setup-and take down whilst i'm able to take a/l on the friday with no restrictions and i don't have to provide transport for Explorers after school.

Re Curborough help. If it was just myself & Rose/Alex coming up, we'd come up friday and help, but unfortunately our Scouts meet on a Friday evening so we are stuck with having to come up Saturday as i'm needed to transport explorers as too far to expect parents to do so and most don't drive or have cars.

Spoke to Chris and Mark and I think we are veering towards 3 x 2 hours at Shrewsbury for the following reasons:

If weather bad then there is undercover changing + showers.
There are lights.
Closeness to Bob!
Centralish location on motorway network.
Soft-standing for tent pitching.
It's a known quantity.
Power available?

As a season opener, perhaps the blandness of the track is not such a bad thing but bear in mind this does give us 1 more track (along with Solihull and Curborough) where cornering is not something either the driver or designer needs to unduly worry themselves over. As long as we keep Bruntingthorpe then perhaps this is not a bad thing.

So updated plan then

20th March: R1 Shrewbury preferred fallback being Nottingham or Stourport - Bob to organise
23rd April: R2 Bruntingthorpe - Mark to Organise
25/26th June: R3 Shenington. - Jes and Comittee joint effort
24th July: R4 Solihull - Dave - or do you want to go to Wombwell???
3rd / 4th Sept: R5 & 6 Blackbushe - Steph & Gareth
24th September: R7 Curborough. - Jes

If we do go for Shrewsbury it does give an option of using Wombwell as a later round or inserted as an extra event but be aware of demands on Jes and teams prior to Shenington.

There is also non championship rounds to consider, Bristol & New Milton/Ringwood

Hi Mark. Darren should be able to confirm but hope he will send this years paperwork over soon.

On this page http://www.solihull.gov.uk/Resident/Lei ... range-park it says its free. However i assume like everything its possible that in future we could be charged.

Also see http://www.solihull.gov.uk/Portals/0/Le ... sGuide.pdf so its an annual event, we have to run it ;)

I assum we have the £5M public liability insurance for next year?

Personally, I would love to have the Wombwell circuit uprooted and placed somewhere near Solihull so that we could benefit from a central location and an interesting track for the July event!

However, I can't imagine we will find either an organiser or a field for an event there in July unless there is someone local who is willing to market the * out of it for the next 10 months.

So, with a bit of heavy heart because to a certain extent I feel we have dumbed it down once again, I propose that the 2016 champsionship should be:

20th March: R1 - Shrewbury - 3 * 2 hours
23rd April: R2 - Bruntingthorpe -6 hour
25/26th June: R3 - Shenington. - 24 hour
24th July: R4 - Solihull - 3hr + 2 hr + 1hr
3rd September: R5 - Blackbushe 4 * 45min + 3 hour
4th September: R6 - Blackbushe: 100 miles
24th September: R7 - Curborough: 7 hours day/night

Darren has sent me all the Solihull info, and initial contact has been made.

However i'm happy to let Solihull go if committee prefer to go to Wombwell.

One question (or suggestion), as R5 Blackbushe is marketed as sprints, why is it 4 * 45min + 3 hour
Would it be better as 4 * 90 or 5 * 75 or something
